Many of us see this sight every day, but it doesn't look quite like this.
Here's the photo as it appeared in the newsletter.

Here's a hint - you're looking east!

Looking south, this is the view you would see out the back window just before the streetcar turned. In 1941, streetcars stopped running in Syracuse.

This shows the corner from a different angle - the streetcar in the mystery photo just passed in front of the Psi Upsilon fraternity house on College Place and turned left onto University Place.

Again a different angle showing the intersection from the front of the former Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity house - now Goldstein Alumni and Faculty Center.

The streetcar tracks turned downhill off University Place onto Walnut Avenue - something you can no longer do since Bird Library was built on the last block of Walnut. The stairs at the left of the picture show the oringinal entrance to the Deke house - off Walnut.

This 1949 map shows the corner before Walnut was blocked off by Bird. The red line follows the streetcar tracks.

And here's the corner today - with a Centro bus instead of the streetcar.
