The Chauncey D. Holmes award is presented to undergraduate students in recognition of their outstanding performance in introductory-level geology courses. The Award was established by Holmes, a 1927 SU graduate and esteemed geologist, to recognize outstanding introductory geology students, which was a cornerstone of his career in academics.

Awards prior to 1999, and from 2000-2002 will be added at a later date.
