The building was erected 1895-96 and opened October, 1896 as the College of Medicine. It was built through private contributions, those of John D. Archbold ($10,000) and Erastus Holden ($10,000) being the largest. The architects were Professor Albert Brockway of the S.U Architecture Department and John P. Benson of New York City. In 1937 when the Medical College on Irving Avenue was constructed, the building was occupied by the School of Extension Teaching and Adult Education which became University College in 1946 and the main entrance was changed to 401 East Genesee Street. On March 30, 1958 the building was renamed Jesse T. Peck Hall after one of the founders of the University, the first President of the Board of Trustees and Bishop of the Methodist Church.
