Though the plans for the building were drawn by Professor Earl Hallenbeck and Robert R. Graham, architects, costs were borne by Frank J. Marion, Class of 1890.

Syracuse University was the first college in the United States to teach photography. The course was first given in 1912. The building was used as a crafts building from 1926 until it was demolished.
