Alumni Papers: Virginia Williams Andrews

The Papers of Virginia Williams Andrews, Class of 1924

(Ellen) Virginia Williams Andrews (1901-1965) graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) degree in 1924. She became a commercial artist working for Norcross in NYC working on greeting cards and other projects. She was the artist of the July 9, 1932 cover of The New Yorker magazine, and in 1938 published High Up in a Penthouse, for which she wrote the story and did the art work. The collection was donated to the Syracuse University Archives in 1999 by her only son, Duncan Andrews.

Below are samples from the collection.
