Alumni Papers: Merton Elwood Granger
Merton Elwood Granger was born February 28, 1882 at Wayland, NY., and died in Syracuse November 26, 1974. In 1905 he entered Syracuse University to study architecture and graduated in 1909. He worked locally as senior partner of "Granger and Gillespie Architects."
This collection of architectural drawings was deposited with the papers of the Central New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The CNY AIA papers are held by the Library's Department of Special Collections. The drawings are primarily architectural plans for residences in the Syracuse area in the 1920s through the 1950s. There are two Syracuse University buildings included, plans for the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority House at 803 Walnut Ave., and alterations for the former Phi Mu Sorority house, 208 Walnut Ave.
