Sidney Alexander was hired as a visiting professor for Syracuse University's Fine Arts Department in 1963. He became an associate professor there during the 1966-1967 academic year. His academic research and writings focused on Michelangelo. In June of 1967 he left SU with the intention of moving to Florence, Italy.
