Faculty Papers: Frederick WIlliam Revels
Frederick WIlliam Revels was born in Randolf, New York in 1869. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1895 and joined the faculty upon graduation. In 1900, he was named an associate professor and in 1902 he achieved the rank of professor. By 1904 he was named director of the Architecture department.
In collaboration with the late Professor Earl Hallenbeck, Frederick Revels designed many campus buildings, among them Lyman Hall of Natural History, Bowne Hall of Chemistry, Carnegie Library, the original Haven Hall Dormitory, Sims Hall, and Archbold Gymnasium.
As most of Revels buildings are still active campus buildings, the Archives holds only one drawing in its collection. That is a proposed stadium for Syracuse University designed by F. W. Revels and E. Hallenbeck. It may be found in Folder #10 in the Harley McKee Papers.
