U. S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Samuel R. Pierce, Jr. was the featured speaker at the dedication. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws.
The Crouse-Hinds Foundation provided the $2.25 million gift for the building. Other major donors include the Kresge Foundation, The United States Steel Foundation, The Booth Ferris Foundation, the Rosamond Gifford Charitable Corporation and Agway, Inc.
Crouse-Hinds Hall is a eight story building with two four-story wings. It houses 97 offices, twelve classrooms, several seminar rooms, and a 200-seat auditorium.
