Faculty Papers: John Austin Meyer
John Austin Meyer, Professor of Chemistry at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry was born in St. Marys, Pennsylvania on September 18, 1919, and died in Pittsburgh, on January 28, 1997.
He earned his doctorate from SUNY ESF in 1958 and was affiliated with the college for more than 30 years, retiring in 1985. His teaching materials and consultant papers are in the John A. and Marion R. W. Meyer Collection at the Syracuse University Archives.
During World War II he served as chief photographic officer at Gander, Nfld. until near the end of the war. His WWII photographs and negatives are also now in the Meyer Collection.
Researchers interested in the Meyer Papers should mention the collection's Record Group (RG 13) and the title of the collection (John A. and Marion R. W. Meyer Collection) when contacting the Syracuse University Archives. Please note that much of the collection is housed off-site and advance notice is required to allow time to have the materials brought to the Reading Room.
