Faculty Papers: Irene Sargent
Irene Sargent, a noted scholar of art history and architecture, taught in Syracuse University's College of Fine Arts from 1895 to 1932. During her tenure as a Professor of Fine Arts, Sargent helped Gustav Stickley to create The Craftsman journal. Additionally, she was the second woman to receive an honorary membership in the American Institute of Architects for her contributions to the field of architecture. Because of her service to Syracuse University, Irene Sargent was buried in the University's plot at Oakwood Cemetary in 1932.
These papers cover the years 1895-1931 and 1978-1982 and consist of 2 boxes totalling nearly 1 linear foot. The finding aid was prepared by Bridget A. Carlin.
