Pages from a diary of Jesse Truesdell Peck, January 1852. A Bishop in the Methodist-Episcopal Church, Peck (1811-1883) was one of the founders of Syracuse University. He was not only a significant donor but also served as president of Syracuse University's Board of Trustees from 1870 to 1873 and was a member of the board until his death. In 2006 the Syracuse University Archives purchased a collection of 27 of Peck's personal diaries dating between 1852 and 1883. The collection includes entries during the establishment of the University as well as major national events such as the Civil War.
