“Tip It, Frosh!”: The First-Year Student through SU's History - Activities and Events Slideshow

Throughout the University's history, first-year students took part in organizations, activities and events specifically for their class. Held during the winter, Freshmen Weekend was given a special theme and included events such as a dance, carnival, talent show, games, and parade. First-year students also had a part in Moving Up Day. Between 1893 and 1970 the University held Moving Up Day ceremonies, including a parade, as part of commencement weekend activities. Moving Up was a symbolic advancement of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to their next class level as the seniors graduated and left the University.
