Pan Am Memorial This site is dedicated to the 270 men, women and children whose lives were lost in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21, 1988. Thirty-five students studying abroad with Syracuse University were killed in this terrorist attack.

Jerry Don Avritt

Jerry Don Avritt

Jerry Don Avritt was the flight engineer onboard Pan Am Flight 103. Born in Lebanon, Kentucky, Jerry served in the Strategic Air Command of the U.S. Air Force. He loved working on planes, and was proud of his military service. Friends and family remember Jerry for his sense of humor and helpful nature. He was a voracious reader, and was on a first-name basis with everyone at his public library. Jerry was survived by his wife and their two children.
